Composed for SATB choir, piano, and oboe. The work sets Becky Hemsley's poem and centers around grief along with the internal emotions and heaviness one carries around each day. The pemiere performance also serves as a culmination of Dr. Sandra Howard's sabbatical research on Social-Emotional Learning, reflected in the curricular implementation of Howard's open-source Social-Emotional Companion Guide to Gilligan's "Glass Balloon". Throughout the semester, Howard and the singers explored the 5 SEL components and connected themes with the text and personal reflection.
